Newcastle Hospitals renew partnership with Health Call


Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has renewed its partnership with Health Call which will make digital health tools available to patients in the northeast and north of Cumbria.

Newcastle Hospitals have been licensed with Health Call on behalf of North East and North Cumbria ICS. Under the contract, the NHS-owned digital health company will deliver more than 60 digital apps over the next three years to all NHS trusts in the region.

Health Call will provide a range of remote digital pathways for patients, which will mean more patients will be able to access trusts’ services. The deployment of the new tools will also allow for better control of clinics, budgets and data, better data security and a robust audit trail.

Dr Chris Plummer, Director of Clinical Informatics at Newcastle Hospitals, said: “We are delighted to announce the renewal of our region-wide remote monitoring plan capabilities with Health Call.

“This gives the region access to over 60 clinically designed digital solutions and exciting future developments including integration into the Patient Engagement Platform (PEP) and NHS app through the Great North Care Record.”

The £1million deal, Health Call’s largest to date, includes tools that enable healthcare workers and patients to view and track appointments and related information. Additionally, it covers support for carers in nursing homes to ensure the best possible patient care.

Health Call is owned by the NHS. It was created to share digital health expertise and resources to improve patient health outcomes and reduce health and care delivery costs. In January last year it launched an online covid-19 vaccination booking system for NHS staff working in the North East and North Cumbria.
