Microsoft announces free online sales consultations for small businesses
Microsoft Stores sales support, which went live widely a few years ago, is now being touted as a new free consulting service for small businesses, according to an announcement from Microsoft on Wednesday in the UK.
“A new free personalized service that helps small organizations understand their technology needs and their best options for devices and software has been launched by Microsoft,” the announcement reads.
However, rather than being new, the consultation service is likely similar to the service available since Microsoft began closing physical stores in 2020 in response to the pandemic. Around this time, many of its store employees transitioned to online sales work, using Microsoft Teams for customer relations.
The one-hour consultations offered by Microsoft focus on commercial support for Surface devices and Microsoft 365 services. Technical support is not offered under this program. However, they support configuration and deployment of the product after purchase.
“After finding the right business solutions, Microsoft will help the organization through every step of the configuration and deployment process,” the announcement promised.
The announcement was aimed at UK readers, but this free advice program is also available in the US, Canada and Australia, according to an FAQ section on Microsoft’s US business consultation homepage. The FAQ explicitly stated that Microsoft does not provide technical support with this service.
Free advice is also available for education buyers. Microsoft also offers 30-minute training sessions on its products with this consulting firm.
