Government launches online portals on agricultural export and import

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday launched two portals, one for Computerized Registration of Pesticides (CROP) and the other for Plant Quarantine Information System ( PQIS) to facilitate the conduct of business.

He said that, keeping in mind the Prime Minister’s vision for the agricultural sector, these two portals have been launched and will help advance digital agriculture and the ease of doing business.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Kailash Chaudhary, said the Prime Minister’s focus on technology will lead to further development in the agricultural sector. The new portals will benefit farmers, exporters as well as industrialists.

The PQMS Portal will provide a seamless system with no physical touchpoints for applicants and ensure user convenience, through an online system including electronic payments and document upload, online accreditation and agency/institution renewal processing and downloading certificates.

Likewise, the redeveloped CROP portal will greatly contribute to the ease of doing business and provide greater and timely crop protection solutions to farmers across the country, according to the ministry.
