ISLAMABAD: BoI, in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan, the United States organized an online investment seminar on Thursday, December 16 to inform potential investors and the Pakistani diaspora based in the United States of the many investment opportunities available in Pakistan, according to a press release.

BOI Secretary Fareena Mazhar, Minister of State and BOI Chairman Muhammad Azfar Ahsan and Pakistani Ambassador to the United States Dr Asad Majeed Khan addressed the participants during the webinar.

While raising awareness about investment opportunities in Pakistan, Fareena mentioned that Pakistan offers potential investors a robust consumer market with an ever expanding middle class.

Elaborating on the investment climate in Pakistan, the BOI secretary said the country has introduced bold economic reforms to achieve significant improvement in all sectors of the economy and the Pakistani economy has made progress. significant, reflecting a mix of stabilization and structural reforms.

She further added that recent surveys corroborate that the confidence of foreign and local investors has increased significantly due to our government’s liberal trade and investment policies.

The secretary specifically mentioned that Pakistan and the United States are partners for prosperity and that the United States has been among the top five investors in Pakistan over the past two decades.

She explained that there is a great opportunity to further develop bilateral trade and investment between the two countries and briefed the participants on the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) with the United States, which has been in place since 2003. Fareena shared that the TIFA in particular, emphasizes development of an effective bilateral mechanism between the two countries to encourage liberalization of trade and investment.

Minister of State and BOI Chairman Muhammad Azfar Ahsan, while briefing participants on Pakistan’s massive investment potential, shared that in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), distinctive incentives are offered to investors to improve the productivity and reduce the costs of doing business with the overall objective of achieving the objectives of economic and industrial development.
